for my 3 shot film I used abode premiere elements 10 to edit the 3 shot film. from using the software i found it really easy to edit with complex effects and the soft ware is really straight forward to use and thanks to the easy usage i was able to create a very good 3 shot film that played very smoothly with effects that created enough tension and made the film look really good. although there are many things that i didn't really like about the program for example the effects sometimes the effects can either make the film look good or it can simply ruin the film and sometimes while editing when you play it to see how it looks the software tends to be glitch.

3 shot film
although there are many weaknesses despite all the strengths such as: we could of included the third actor being me, in terms of editing if we had added more effects to to the film to allow it to flow much better, in terms of camera it would be better if it was more steady.

During the opening of jeeper creepers there is a wide range
of indicators that help show that the movie is a horror film such as: the
location the place seems to be in very unpopulated areas in the country sides
and this links to the stereotypical location, the annoying teenagers that are
usually in the film this is stereotypical characters and the sound with the use
of sound if gave a creepy vibe.
From this opening there are many questions to be asked by
the audience such as: who is the person driving the truck? What is he doing? What
did he chuck in the pipe? Where are they? Why is he chasing them?
With the use of soundtrack and diegetic sound there is a lot
created from it such as: during the chase scene the music creates more of a
fast vibe to the film as they do haft to rush to try and get away and at the
start when they first see the man the music is gives the uncomfortable feel due
to the high notes and lastly the sound of the car chasings gives a rush to the
movie.
In this opening we find out a lot about their location and
who lives there also how dangerous it is for them. We find out there is a
mysterious man disposing of dead bodies in the pipes but also we find out that
these two main characters seems to be out main characters due to the amount of
camera time they had.
In the opening there was many shots that stood out such as

During the opening scene of the mechanic there are many
genre indicators to show that the film is an action film such as: the
stereotypes of the main villain not being super muscly, by having a whole bunch
of body guards and workers surrounding the main villain, the location the villain

From watching the opening scene there are many questions to
be asked about this opening scene such as: where are they? Who is the man in
black? What does he want? Why did he kill the guy in the pool? Why does the guy
have so many body guards? Is he important?
From this opening scene we find out a lot of information
such as: there is someone that could be an assassins or a secret agent out to
kill all the bad people to stop them from doing bad things, we also find out
that the guy in the pool appears to be bad due to the stereo types of bad guys having
many body guards and lastly we find out that the guy in black appears to be
very important due to the amount of camera time.
During the opening scene there is a very clever use of the
sound by having a calm peaceful mood by having no sound just the sound that the
characters would hear, and then when the jump attack happens the sound track
appears to play to create a very dramatic effect as the action starts, after
the dramatic events of the kill a very fast up beat track is played to help
give the impression that the killer hast to quickly get away and during the
last part the track carries on with the fast past up beat song to show and
represent the man had escaped sneakily.
In the opening there are lots of different shots used. From POV
shots to established shots, during the start there is an extreme close up of
the man’s watch as he gets ready to swim, then there was an over the shoulder
shot of the pool over the shoulder of the body guards. Next is a long shot
showing the pool and the room itself, as the man starts swimming there is shot

there is an establishing shot of the bridge showing the height and the how
scary the jump could be.

In the opening of drag me to hell there are many indicators
that show the film is going to be a horror film such as: the setting it shows a
large house but also seems unpopulated, when the parents present the necklace fly’s
come out of it they connote death, also by the family we can see that they are
travellers linking to the conventions of horror films.
From the opening scene of the film there are many questions
to be asked such as: who are the family? What is that necklace? Where did it
come from? Why did the boy get dragged into hell? Who is the lady?
By looking at the opening of the film we find out a lot of
information such as: we find out that a boy is either cursed of ill by the dark
powers of the necklace, there is a lady that knows how to cure the boy and to
stop the evil things, the locations to seem to be in Mexico.
With the use of sound within the opening of drag me to hell

expendables 2 opening
In the opening scene of the expendables 2 there are many
genre indicators that show it is an action film such as: the guns, the large
cars, the explosion, there is hand to hand combat, a lot of violence, the usual
unlimited ammo in each gun and one big one is the location of the film it is located
in a secret area for the bad guys base.
In this opening there are many questions to be asked such
as: who is bad who is good? What are they trying to do? What are the people trying
to hide? Where are they? Who are they working for? Are there more people than
that?
In this opening we don’t find out to much but we find out
that there is a group of expert fighters that are trying to stop someone or
another army from doing bad stuff and the way they do that is by fighting them
right there. There seems to be 6 main heroes in the movie possibly more.
With the use of sound the sound track is able to create the
fast vibe suggesting a chase or a battle of some sort, but the use of the sound
is able to tell up what genre the film is with the sounds of guns explosions
and vehicles this creates a rush type of mood or suggest that someone is in
danger and the heroes need to hurry to reach their objectives.
Due to the fast action within the clip there were many
effective clips that support the fast vibe. For example in the chase scene it
was like we were driving next those from a long shot looking from the side of
the cars. There was also a great use of over the shoulder shots this was
effective as this help give the impression as your one of the characters
backing up the other.
scream opening analysis
In the opening scene of scream there are many genre
indicators that show that the film is a horror such as: the stereotypical phone
calls, a young teenager that seems annoying to the audience, an empty house
meaning that it is unpopulated and the dialogue of the mysterious man on the
phone.
From this opening there are many questions that may be asked
by the audience such as: who is this young girl? Who is she talking to? Where could
this person be? Where is she? Why is the man continuously calling?
From watching this opening we find out a lot of information.
We find out that there is a mysterious man watching over the young lady in the
house, as the woman preps for her movie night she continuously gets phone
calls, we also find out that he is near her either outside or in her house.
In this opening sound is used cleverly as it starts off
completely quiet but as you go further in the dramatic music slowly builds up
till the man states ‘I want to know who I’m looking at’ when that was said a
sharp high pitch noise was played to shock the audience then it causes a tense
mood as anything could either pop out and scare you are any time.
This use of camera shots was really effective during this
open with shots like long shots of her walking then staying still looking at
the window makes the audience feel as if something is out there or that
something is going to pop out of anywhere, or some other shots that made it as
if we was the lady looking out the window.
horror films target audience
Target audience for horror films
The usual age group that horror films are targets at is
15-25 years old. This is because horror films as of recent are heavily
relatable because of the story lines with people beginning young adult hood and
having a new house of starting a family. This is relatable because in recent
films young adults tend to move to areas with a poor history and possibly as
they start getting comfortable the adults have a family .
horror conventions
Conventions for horror films
Usually in horror films there are lots of stereotypes in
terms of what the genre indicators are such as: location is usually in abandon
areas like a country side, the music is very dull and when something bad
happens a sudden high pitch sound is there to scare you, and in terms of
characters usually there may be a family or sometimes young teenagers to appeal
to the younger audience.
Locations are very different compared to other films as they
are either areas where is not as populated or the background of the area
contains a really bad history for the story line. For example: dark woods,
cabins, farms or barns.
In terms of characters there usually is a wide range such
as: the annoying teenagers that tend to die first, the hero or the victim, the
ghosts who is causing all this trouble.

action target audience
Target audience for action films
From my own knowledge I know that the usual age group for
action is ages 15- 30 this is because action films in this age group is really
relate able to real life for men for example when a young man is old enough to
drive this can help relate to possibly car chases or to races for example films
like fast and furious help influence that feeling or approach to this activity.
One other relatable thing is first love in this age group people are old enough
to be able to start new serious relationships and in action films this is
relatable because in the films usually there is love interests.
action convections
Conventions for action films
Usually in an action film the genre indicators are things
like: violence, explosions, and guns. In terms of characters there are a wide
range of characters to work with such as: villain, protagonist, antagonists,
love interests, sidekicks and more. Stereo typically in an action film in terms
of the villains they tend to be very weak but also have lots of body guards or
the villain tends to be foreign for example in the recent American action films
they tend to be Russian villains. In terms
of the setting there are a lot of stereotypes for example some films maybe
located in heavily populated areas for example new York but if its more than a
war film action films tends to be a located in the villages of viet nam or a
desert. Stereotypically there are a lot of cheesy lines for the main characters
for example before a major kill the main character may say “see you later” with
explosions all around
