Conventions for horror films
Usually in horror films there are lots of stereotypes in
terms of what the genre indicators are such as: location is usually in abandon
areas like a country side, the music is very dull and when something bad
happens a sudden high pitch sound is there to scare you, and in terms of
characters usually there may be a family or sometimes young teenagers to appeal
to the younger audience.
Locations are very different compared to other films as they
are either areas where is not as populated or the background of the area
contains a really bad history for the story line. For example: dark woods,
cabins, farms or barns.
In terms of characters there usually is a wide range such
as: the annoying teenagers that tend to die first, the hero or the victim, the
ghosts who is causing all this trouble.
