drag me to hell opening analysis

In the opening of drag me to hell there are many indicators that show the film is going to be a horror film such as: the setting it shows a large house but also seems unpopulated, when the parents present the necklace fly’s come out of it they connote death, also by the family we can see that they are travellers linking to the conventions of horror films.
From the opening scene of the film there are many questions to be asked such as: who are the family? What is that necklace? Where did it come from? Why did the boy get dragged into hell? Who is the lady?
By looking at the opening of the film we find out a lot of information such as: we find out that a boy is either cursed of ill by the dark powers of the necklace, there is a lady that knows how to cure the boy and to stop the evil things, the locations to seem to be in Mexico.
With the use of sound within the opening of drag me to hell it is able to create a great bit of tension and mystery due to the fact we don’t know who the people are or we don’t know what is causing the boy harm. Also to create a creepy atmosphere we are able to hear screaming and screeching from the demons, to as on as the jump scare comes along there is a horrid high pitch noise to make the audience feel uncomfortable.
There is a wide range of shots within the opening of the film such as: there were many close ups of the woman that tried to cure the young boy this represents that she shows relevance in the film, there was also a POV shot of the boy looking at the sealing and looking at the demons as the look down on him lastly there is an establishing shot showing the loction.
